Rohrbaugh Continues to Pace Broncos

April 21, 2018

BREMERTON, Wash. â€" Senior Tristan Rohrbaugh had another solid performance for the Boise State men's golf team in the second round of the Mountain West Championships Saturday, as did defending champion Brian Humphreys, a sophomore. Heading into Sunday's final round, the duo is tied for 16th at 2-over.

Rohrbaugh, playing in his final conference championships, followed his even-par first round with a 2-over 74 at the 7,115-yard Olympic Course at the Gold Mountain Golf Club. Humphreys followed his opening-round 74 (+2) with an even-par 72, capping his round with a birdie on No. 18 â€" his fourth of the day.

The Broncos picked up three strokes on New Mexico on the final hole, jumping the Lobos to move into eighth place in the team standings. With No. 18 playing at 315 yards, both Humphreys and fellow sophomore Mason Schulze hit their drives to within six feet of the pin. Schulze made his eagle putt and Humphreys carded a birdie, giving Boise State a one-stroke lead over the Lobos heading into the final round.

The Broncos posted a second-straight team score of 296 (+8), and at 16-over 592, are within 10 strokes of third place.

"Another solid day for Tristan Rohrbaugh â€" he has really stepped up big for us," head coach Dan Potter said. "Mason's eagle on the last hole was huge going into tomorrow. Obviously we need some sub-par rounds, and hopefully they're coming tomorrow."

Schulze is currently tied for 25th with back-to-back rounds of 74 (148, +4), while freshman Jun Ho Won (76-76—152, +8) and senior Donny Hopoi (78-77—155, +11) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.
