NEW ORLEANS – Boise State redshirt sophomore Allie Ostrander is making a habit of going back-to-back. The back-to-back national champion in the 3,000m steeplechase, and back-to-back Mountain West Female Athlete of the Year, was named the USTFCCCA Women's Outdoor Track Scholar Athlete for the second-consecutive season, the organization announced Thursday.

Ostrander is the first back-to-back winner of the award since Abbey D'Agostino of Dartmouth (2012-13). A junior in academic standing, she has held a 4.00 GPA all three years of her college career as a kinesiology major. She accumulated 11 points at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships – winning the steeplechase and taking eighth in the 5,000m.

The Kenai, Alaska, native is also currently in the running in the NCAA Elite 90 contest. Ostrander won the award – given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA at all 90 of the NCAA's championship sites – at the Division I Cross Country Championships. The ballot can be found here, with voting ending Thursday (July 26) at 6 p.m. MT.

In addition to Ostrander's award, the track and field and cross country programs were also honored by USTFCCCA for their academic achievement. The men's cross country and track and field programs were named an All-Academic Team with a 3.16 GPA. The women's cross country and track and field programs were also honored as All-Academic Teams with a GPA of 3.55.

Eleven Broncos also earned individual All-Academic recognition from USTFCCCA. In order to be honored, the athlete must have a 3.25 or higher GPA, and either: received All-Region or All-America honors in cross country, be ranked in the top 96 in any individual event during the indoor season, or qualify for any round of the NCAA Division I Championship during the outdoor season.
