BOISE, Idaho -
Boise State STUD Curtis Weaver
was named to the Ted Hendricks Award Watch List Monday morning. The award is given annually to the top defensive end in the nation.
The redshirt sophomore was previously named to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team in July.
Last season, Weaver was one of Boise State's breakout stars, constantly harassing opposing quarterbacks and offensive lines. He was named to a pair of Freshman All-America Teams (FWAA, USA TODAY), a fourth-team All-American by Phil Steele and honorable mention by SB Nation, as well as to the All-Mountain West First Team as he led the Mountain West with 11.0 sacks and paced the Broncos with 13.0 tackles-for-loss.
Along with being a key part of Boise State's defense, Weaver made his impact in the turnover game, picking off a pass against Nevada (Nov. 4), and being named a Piesman Trophy finalist for his 55-yard fumble return for a touchdown at Washington State (Sept. 9).
Boise State, ranked 22nd in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll, opens the 2018 campaign Saturday, Sept. 1, at Troy (4 p.m. MT, ESPNews).
