Rafla, Schoffield Lead Boise State in Salem

SALEM, Ore. – The Boise State cross country teams continued an impressive weekend, sweeping the team and individual titles in both the men's and women's races, Saturday at the Charles Bowles Invitational. Andrew Rafla led the men's team to a nine-point victory, while Kristie Schoffield's victory on the women's side propelled the Broncos to a 38-point victory in the team race.

Rafla (24:09.2) and fellow senior Riley Campbell (24:12.2) led a 1-2 finish in the men's 8-kilometer race, while Keegan McCormick and freshman Lammi Kalil cracked the top 10 on the day. Tom Richardson finished 21st to give the Broncos 37 points, narrowly edging Portland's 46.

Schoffield, a redshirt freshman in cross country, won for the first time in her collegiate cross country career, traversing the 5-kilometer course in 17:10.7. Olivia Johnson finished third in 17:19.8, with Claire Graves and Jordan Jacob close behind in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Karlie Swanson rounded out the scoring in 15th to place all five scorers in the top 15 on the day. The Broncos finished with 30 points, well ahead of second-place Lipscomb (68 points).

The Broncos will return to action the weekend of Oct. 13.
