Celebrating 30 Seasons of Women's Golf

30th Thursday

No. 28 | Kinsley Bonfilio

“Boise State was the only place I wanted to play,” said Kinsley Bonfilio, a member of the Boise State women’s golf team from 2015-19.

Her favorite memory while representing the Blue and Orange came in her freshman season. During an 18-round qualifying match, the women were allowed to select their own caddies, and Bonfilio chose her brother.

“At the time, my brother was still in high school,” Bonfilio explained. It was really cool to have him do that for me. That was a special day.”

Bonfilio was also a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). SAAC consists of two student-athletes from each team at Boise State. These representatives serve as the voice of Bronco student-athletes to administration, the Mountain West and the NCAA.

The Boise, Idaho native credits her participation in SAAC with learning how to be responsible, become a leader and grow her network. While a member of SAAC, she had the opportunity to speak to a local elementary school comprised primarily of refugees about bullying.

“I really enjoyed being part of [SAAC],” Bonfilio said. “[I was able to] take on more of a team leadership role.”

Bonfilio graduated with her bachelor’s in health science and a minor in biology. She continued her education at Idaho State, earning her Master of Physician Assistant Studies. Today, Bonfilio works as a PA for The Allergy Group.

“Through the network and connections I made at Boise State, I was able to go onto my next steps, which I am super grateful for,” said Bonfilio.

During her four-year career as a Bronco, Bonfilio made 21 tournament appearances and garnered three top-25 finishes. Her best finish came as a sophomore at the Mountain West Championships, shooting a team-best 229 (80-75-74). That same year, Bonfilio was named All-American Scholar by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) and Boise State’s Most Improved Golfer.

“The coaches were a great support system, and I still talk to all my teammates today,” Bonfilio said. “If I [could] go back and do it all over again, I’d do it in a heartbeat.”
