Peterson will be an assistant for both the indoor and beach volleyball programs.

BOISE, Idaho (7/19/2018) - Boise State Head Volleyball Coach Shawn Garus announced today the addition of Hayley Peterson to his staff as an assistant coach. In addition to assisting with the indoor program, Peterson will also serve as the assistant beach volleyball coach under head coach Allison Buck.

"I am very excited about adding Hayley to our volleyball coaching staff," said Garus. "Hayley has a great track record as a player and young coach at Idaho State. I was able to see her on the road recruiting, see her work ethic and see her interaction with coaches. I think the world of her as a person and I think her upside as a coach is going to be felt throughout our program here.

"I am excited that Hayley is going to be able to work with our beach program," Buck said. "She will bring a lot of energy and will impact our program as we continue to grow the sport on campus at Boise State."

"I'm excited to be a part of a program that has such involvement in the community," said Peterson. "I've grown up in Idaho and seen what Boise State has done for the community. I know what the coaching staff does here -- they influence and help young women grow to be successful. It's an honor and a privilege, and I'm excited to get started.

Peterson comes to Boise State from Idaho State where she served as an assistant coach for one season at her alma mater. At ISU her primary responsibilities were training and directing the setters, assisting with recruiting and practice planning, scouting and film breakdown and overseeing team academics.

Prior to her appointment as an assistant coach for the Bengals, Peterson spent a year as the Student Support Graduate Assistant for ISU's Department of Athletics in addition to working as a volunteer assistant for the volleyball program.

In her youth coaching experience, she organized tryouts including what drills to include to help athletes display their abilities and team cohesion. Peterson has also worked to develop different teaching styles and learned how to adapt to different types of athletes.

Peterson has also worked as a camp coach, working under former ISU head coach Chad Tiechert at the Chad Tiechert Volleyball Camps where she had the opportunity to organize and run four-day camps for 30-60 athletes.

The native of Idaho Falls (Idaho Falls HS), played collegiately for Idaho State where she was a standout setter from 2012-16. Peterson was a two-year team captain and finished her career ranked fifth in program history with 3,813 assists and eighth in digs with 1,236. She was also named as one of 30 finalists for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award, was a two-time Big Sky All-Academic honoree and a two-time first-team All-Big Sky selection.

The former Hayley Farrer is married to Kaderick Peterson. Peterson is 2016 graduate of Idaho State University earning a bachelor degree in sport management with a physical education emphasis. She then completed her masters in athletic administration from ISU in May 2018.
