Men’s Basketball to Compete Against Boise State Esports Sunday

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State men's basketball will compete against Boise State's Esports team Sunday, Aug. 1, in an event that will be broadcast live on Twitch. Members of each program will face off in three games: Rocket League, Call of Duty and NBA 2K.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. and the live stream will last until approximately 9 p.m. The broadcast will feature a full production with commentary and interviews.
Men's basketball will be represented by two student-athletes in each game. Lukas Milner and Naje Smith will handle Rocket League. Abu Kigab and Kasean Pryor will try their hand at Call of Duty. Emmanuel Akot and Devonaire Doutrive will man the controls in NBA 2K.
Boise State won the 2021 Mountain West Esports Series Championship in "Overwatch" and went on to win an "Overwatch" national title. The Broncos started Esports in 2017, becoming the 24th college in the country to field a varsity team. Since then, Boise State has racked up three national titles and a national-best 543 victories. Head coach Dr. Chris Haskell has been at the helm since the beginning and was named the 2020 National Association of Collegiate Esports Coach of the Year.
Boise State men's basketball season tickets are available now for the 2020-21 campaign. Tickets can be purchased online, over the phone at (208) 426-2737 or in person at the Boise State Athletic Ticket Office on the west side of Albertsons Stadium.
