
Marruffo Named MW Freshman Of The Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State's Lorelyz Marruffo has been tabbed the Mountain West Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon. This is the second time this season the Bronco has been recognized by the league.
Marruffo earned the honor for her performances in Boise State's 5-2 win on the road at Portland State, Saturday (Feb. 18), when she claimed a victory in both singles and doubles. At the No.1 doubles position, Marruffo and partner Nicole Discenza defeated Capu Sanoner and Nika Beukers 6-3, then the redshirt-freshman faced Sanoner on singles court two, winning 6-1, 7-6(3).
Boise State is off to a 6-3 start in its 2023 spring duals campaign, the fourth-straight season the Broncos have started 6-3 or better through the first nine contests. Up next Boise State travels to Spokane, Wash., to take on Gonzaga, Saturday (Feb. 25), at noon MT.
