COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Boise State redshirt senior safety Travis Stanaway was named Mountain West Co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday, following his performance in the Broncos’ 36-14 victory over Wyoming.

Stanaway, from Clyde Hill, Wash. (Bellevue HS), led Boise State with a career-high nine tackles (eight solo), forced a fumble and recorded the first interception of his career in just his second start as a Bronco.

He helped lead the Boise State defense in holding the Cowboys to season lows in both yards of total offense (191) and points (14).

Stanaway, a three-year letterwinner entering 2011, has a career-high 30 tackles through the Broncos’ first 11 games this season – including 24 solo and two for-loss.

This is the third time this season that a defensive player from Boise State has been honored with the conference’s weekly award, as Tyrone Crawford (Oct. 17) and Byron Hout (Oct. 23) garnered the accolade in back-to-back weeks.

The Broncos play New Mexico Saturday at Bronco Stadium in the final home game of the 2011 season. Senior Day is scheduled to kick off at 4 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally by The Mtn.
