Bronco alumnus Roderick Townsend-Roberts will represent the United States at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Sept. 7-18. He will compete in the 100m, high jump and long jump in what will be his first Paralympics.
Townsend-Roberts recently earned first-place finishes in the 100m, high jump and long jump at the 2015 U.S. Paralympics Track and Field National Championships. Prior to representing the United States, Townsend-Roberts excelled as a multi athlete at Boise State. He took third in the heptathlon (5,028 points) at the 2013 Mountain West Conference Championships.
With the high jump being arguably his best event, he also placed second at the 2014 outdoor conference championships, earning All-MW honors in the process. His collegiate-best height came at the 2014 Idaho-Utah Border Clash where he cleared 6-9.75 (2.08m).
Townsend-Roberts will be a part of a United States' track and field contingent that will feature 77 athletes.
