BSU Wins Two Titles at Bronco Invite

NAMPA, Idaho - Keegan McCormick took first in the 3,000m with a career-best time of 8:42.76 to lead Boise State at the Bronco Invitational Saturday afternoon at the Jacksons Indoor Track in the Ford Idaho Center. It was McCormick's second career collegiate victory in a field that featured 14 other runners.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Cameron Wrout, Fernando Martinez, Alexandru Terpezan and Bryce Kirby was victorious as well, clocking a time of 3:19.25 to provide the other victory of the day for the Blue and Orange.
The 600m was an impressive race for the Broncos, as Sadi Henderson clocked a 1:29.00 to finish just behind a professional runner on the women's side. Fernando Martinez (1:21.14) was second for the men and freshman Noah Horsburgh (1:21.33 was right behind in third.
The 800m saw Melika Ghali run a career-best time of 1:56.55 for second place for the men, and Amy Pfaff (2:12.47) ran well for third on the women's side.
Ty Jordan (4:22.16) enjoyed a season-best time in the mile to take third in the men's race. Maddie Hall (5:28.64) was the top Bronco finisher for the women in 11th place.
Taj Dorsett fared well in the 60m, recording a 7.92 to take fifth place. On the men's side it was Kirby (6.95) and Terpezan (7.07) both making the finals and finishing in third and seventh, respectively. Terpezan's best event - the 200m - was also positive with the senior taking second (21.84).
Pole vault saw Allison Jeffries take sixth after clearing 11-5.75 (3.50m), and Justin Stattner (14-9 / 4.50m) cleared a career-best height to take sixth as well.
Drew Lindsley had himself a nice day with a pair of 12th-place finishes in the shot put (44-0.75 / 13.43m) and in the weight throw (45-11.75 / 14.01m). His mark in the shot put was good for a PR. Kevin Ketterling (42-2.25 / 12.86m) took 16th in the shot put.
Kendra Noneman was 16th in the weight throw with a 45-3.50 (13.80m) and Baylee Dodd (38-4.75 / 11.70m) was 21st in the shot put.
The Broncos will take a break from hosting meets next weekend and compete in the UW Invitational from Jan. 27-28 on the campus of the University of Washington.
