Redshirt junior scored 20.5 points on the weekend, nine Broncos receive All-Mountain West distinction
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Boise State track and field teams received nine recognitions from the Mountain West for their performance at the 2019 Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championships, the conference announced on Tuesday.
After a miscalculation was corrected by the conference office, redshirt junior Allie Ostrander has been announced as the Women's Outstanding Performer of the Meet. Ostrander scored 20.5 points on the weekend. She won the individual title at 3000m, running a conference championship-meet record of 9:11.61. Ostrander was also the runner-up in the mile, while running the anchor leg of Boise State's distance medley relay team which captured the Broncos' fourth-straight conference title in the event.
The Broncos collected eight All-Mountain West honors from nine different athletes on the weekend. Individuals who finish in the top three of their respective events are named to the All-Mountain West team, while the top three relay teams also receive an all-conference distinction.
With her title in the 3000m and runner-up finish in the mile, Ostrander led the team with two All-Mountain West honors. On the women's side, Kristie Schoffield also received an All-Mountain West accolade in the 800m (second), while Alexis received the distinction with a third-place finish in the mile.
The trio, joined by freshman Kelly Moodry, was also named to the All-Mountain West team for the distance medley relay.
Both Addison Dehaven and Miler Haller received All-Mountain West honors on the men's side. Dehaven won the conference title at 3000m as he cruised to a wire-to-wire victory. Haller notched a runner-up finish in the 5000m on Friday night to earn his first All-Mountain West honor in track and field.
Dehaven was joined by Andrew Rafla, Brayden Durfee and Henry Mong on the All-Mountain West team thanks to their distance medley relay title.
Entries to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 9-10, in Birmingham, Ala., will be announced on Tuesday evening. The top 16 athletes in each event, and top 12 relays, will receive an invitational to the national championships.
