BOISE, Idaho -Â Redshirt junior Allie Ostrander was named to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 7 Cross Country/Track & Field Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Tuesday. It marks the second-straight season in which Ostrander has made the all-district team.
To be eligible for selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, nominees must own a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, have completed at least one year at their current institution, and be a starter or significant contributor who has competed in at least half of their team's competitions.
Ostrander, who received her kinesiology degree in May, boasts a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average, and will now advance to the national ballot, where she will seek her second-straight appearance on the academic All-America team.
The Kenai, Alaska, native has added even more luster to an all-time great Boise State career in 2018-19. In the fall, Ostrander was the 2018 NCAA Regional champion and a cross-country All-American as she helped lead the Bronco women to a second-place finish at Mountain West Championships and a sixth-place effort at NCAA Championships.
During the winter indoor track & field season, she successfully defended her Mountain West 3,000-meter title and added DMR gold to her tally, en route to being named the Women's Most Outstanding Performer of the Mountain West Indoor Track & Field Championships. Ahead of earning All-America honors in both the 3,000 and 5,000 meters at the NCAA Championships, Ostrander was honored for her academic success by being named the NCAA Elite 90 Award recipient, given to the championships participant with the top cumulative grade-point average.
Ostrander's elite performances have continued into the spring outdoor season, claiming the 5,000 meters title at the Mountain West Championships then running a national-best 9:40.05 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA West Regionals in Sacramento, setting up a chance for her third-straight national title in the event at the NCAA Championships. The national meet, set for June 5-8 in Austin, Texas, will feature Ostrander once again pulling double duty, competing in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and the 5,000 meters.
