BOISE, Idaho – Former Boise State Spirit Squad Head Coach Kelsey Messer will hoist the Blue Chaos Flag before the Broncos' home game against UNLV on Saturday.

Messer is the first Spirit Squad member and the second individual woman to raise the Blue Chaos Flag.

"Being selected to raise the Blue Chaos Flag is an incredible honor," Messer said. "Getting to represent the Spirit Squad and all of the past Spirit Squad coaches and alumni is not something I take lightly. I couldn't be more grateful to be the first Spirit Squad member to be given this honor."

A member of the Boise State cheer squad as an undergraduate, Messer began her coaching career in 2019. She led the team for six years, concluding her tenure with national titles in both hip hop and jazz at the 2025 National Dance Alliance National Championships.

"Boise State means everything to me," Messer said. "The people, the connections, and the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities I've been provided are immeasurable and beyond anything I could have imagined when I decided to attend Boise State in 2011. Being an alum of Boise State is one of the greatest honors because it means you represent something so much bigger than yourself. You represent The Blue, and that is something I hold so close to my heart."

Messer will join the Bronco Tailgate Show at 11:53 a.m. MT before the game against the Rebels. Fans can listen live on KBOI 93.1 FM, 670 AM, and the Varsity Network, or watch in person in front of the Boise State Hall of Fame.
