Jacksons Indoor Track History and Information
The Jacksons Indoor Track was built in 2002 when Boise State University, along with Jacksons Food Stores in Meridian, Idaho, and the Idaho Center of Nampa, Idaho, combined to create the Jacksons Indoor Track at the Idaho Sports Center.
The facility is located next to the Idaho Center on the east side of Nampa, about a 20-minute drive from the main Boise State campus. The track is 200-meters long and includes six banked lanes on the oval and an eight lane straight track located in the middle. The track has a Mondo surface which is required by the NCAA and USA Track and Field for sanctioned championship meets. The track is the only championships suitable / world class indoor track facility located in the Paci?c Northwest.
Purchase of the track was made possible when John D. Jackson, President of Jacksons Food Stores, made a cash gift of $250,000 to Boise State.
The Idaho Sports Center landed its ?rst national championship in 2005 when it hosted the USA Track and Field National Indoor Masters Championships. The Masters Championships attracted more than 800 male and female athletes ages 40 and over. Most recently, the facility hosted the 2012 NCAA National Indoor Track and Field Championships, the largest meet ever held in the facility.
