Frank Kaaa, 6’0” 200-pound halfback from Hawaii, received first team All-Intermountain Collegiate Athletic Conference honors his freshman and sophomore seasons at Boise Junior College. Kaaa was also named first-team All-American following the completion of his two years as a Bronco. Kaaa helped BJC to records of 8-2 in 1960 and 9-1 in 1961. The 1960 Bronco team won the ICAC Championship for the 13th time, and the 1961 squad finished the season ranked 11th in the Nation. In 1961, in a 70-20 win against El Camino Junior College, Kaaa had four touchdowns. Against College of Southern Utah, Kaaa set a Broncos record with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Kaaa played in the NJC East-West Game in 1961.
