Inducted into the Boise State Hall of Fame in 1982

Hired as head football coach in 1968, Tony Knap guided Boise State to national prominence as the school made the transition to a four-year program. His 1971 team defeated Chico State in the Camellia Bowl. In the mid-70s Boise State won three straight Big Sky titles under Knap and went to the NCAA Division II playoffs all three years. He left BSU to become head football coach at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas prior to the 1976 campaign. He retired after the 1981 season. During his eight years at Boise State, he compiled a 71-19-1 overall record, a 78 percent winning percentage.
