Merritt Paces the Broncos

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Boise State University golfer Troy Merritt stands tied for first place through two rounds of play after Monday, with a 135 (-9) at the Giustina Memorial Classic hosted by Oregon State.

Merritt fired a 68 (-4) in his first collegiate competition since the 2007 Western Athletic Conference Championships to tie for second place through one round of play. He then followed up with a 67 (-5) in the second round to climb the leader board into a tie for first place.

The team is currently in seventh place with a 571 (-5) but remains only five strokes back of third place with one round of golf to play. After shooting a 590 (+2) in the first round the team stepped up to post an 8-under (281) in the second.

Senior Matt Hastings remains among the leaders as he is currently tied for 16th place with a 143 (-1). Hastings was consistent on the day shooting an even-par 72 in the first round and a 1-under 71 in the second round.

The Giustina Memorial Classic will continue Tuesday, Sept. 18, with tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. (PT).
