BOISE STATE’S “OFFICIAL” POINSETTIA BOWL FAN EVENT GUIDE

Bronco Nation will be out in full force in San Diego for the 2008 Poinsettia Bowl.  Below is a complete listing of events where fans can proudly display the Bronco team colors, interact with the players and other fans and help paint San Diego Blue and Orange! On Poinsettia Bowl game day, the color of choice for Bronco Fans is Orange. So wear as much orange as possible and let the entire nation see the color of Bronco Nation.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 20^TH:

Event: Bronco Team Day at Sea World

Location: SeaWorld San Diego

Join the Broncos as they visit SeaWorld San Diego. Meet Shamu, count the teeth on a shark and come face to face with polar bears. You can also take a mythical rush through uncharted waters on SeaWorld's newest thrill ride, Journey to Atlantis.  The Boise State football team will be at SeaWorld from 10:00 am till Noon on Saturday, December 20^th.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 21^ST:

Event:  Poinsettia Bowl March Through The Gaslamp

Location:  San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

Time:  6:00 pm

Festivities for the 2008 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl kick off in downtown San Diego's historic Gaslamp Quarter at 6 p.m., Sunday, December 21st.  Marching bands and spirit squads from the participating universities will parade from each end of 5th Avenue performing holiday classics, and meeting up at Market Street for a heart-pounding Battle of the Bands!  After the dust has settled at Market Street, bands will continue on with their parade of holiday favorites.  The event is free for spectators.

BRONCO FAN FOOD AND DRINK SPECIALS

Karl Strauss is just a couple blocks off the Gaslamp Quarters and is offering a Bronco Special Menu that includes a Bronco Burger and Bronco Wings during Poinsettia Bowl week, as well as special drinks at the Happy Hour price anytime for fans dressed in Bronco Gear.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 22^ND:

Event: AT&T Team Luncheon

Location: Aboard the USS Midway Aircraft Carrier

Time:  11:00 am

Cost: $40

The AT&T Team Luncheon gives college football fans the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dine with the players and coaches on board the historic USS Midway on San Diego Bay. The Battle of the University Bands will take place on the flight deck at 11 a.m. followed by the luncheon in the hangar bay at 12 noon. After a delicious lunch, rousing speeches by the coaches and videos of the teams' seasons, take a self-guided tour of the historic USS Midway.

Limited parking is available on the pier and
in ace parking lots adjacent to the ship. 

Option 1: $10 to park on the pier.

Option 2: Hourly rate at ACE parking lot across the street.

Option 3: Take the San Diego Trolley, get off at Santa Fe station and walk .3 miles to the ship.

Event: Bronco  Basketball Pre-Game Event

Location: Tio Leo’s Lounge (5302 Napa St, San Diego / Phone: 619-542-1462)

Time:  4:30 pm 6:30 pm (No Host)

Join other Bronco fans at Tio Leo’s for a pre-game gathering prior to the Boise State men’s basketball game against University of San Diego.  Tio Leo’s is located about mile from Jenny Craig Pavilion where the basketball game will be held.  For more information on Tio Leo’s and directions, click here.

MONDAY, DECEMBER 22^ND:

Event:  Bronco Basketball Game vs. San Diego

Location: Jenny Craig Pavilion

Time:  7:00 pm

The defending WAC Champion Boise State men’s basketball team takes on the defending West Coast Conference Champion San Diego Torreros in a key non-conference match-up.  You’re already in San Diego, so support the Bronco hoopsters by attending the game, wearing your Bronco orange and turning the Jenny Craig Pavilion into the Boise State Pavilion with a Bronco home court advantage.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 23^RD:

Event:  Boise State Poinsettia Bowl Tailgate Party

Location:  Lots L1-L3 of Qualcomm Stadium (near Trolley drop-off at SE corner

of stadium)

Time:  2:00 pm till Kick-off

Cost:  Free Admission; Pay as You Eat/Drink for Food and Beverage

Looking for the place to gather with the rest of Bronco Nation in San Diego?  Just be at the “Official” Boise State Poinsettia Bowl Tailgate Party, put on by Boise State Athletics, the Boise State Alumni Association and the Bronco Athletic Association.  Food (hot dogs, hamburgers and concessions) and assorted beverages (soft drinks, beer and wine) will be available for purchase at the event. 

A Bronco pep rally will begin at 3:30, including the Boise State cheerleaders, Buster Bronco, the Mane Line Dancers and the Keith Stein Blue Thunder Marching Band.  You can also listen live to Bob Behler and Jadon Dailey, who will be broadcasting the KIDO/Bronco Radio Network pre-game show from the Tailgate Party.  And, keep your eyes out for some special guests, including former Bronco all-conference wide receiver and current San Diego Charger, Legedu Naanee.
