Boise State Head Coach Mike Maynard is confident this weekend’s field will give his teams exactly the kind of test they need early on.
“We don’t want a knock down, drag out fight,” Maynard said. “We want this to be more of a test to our fitness and our fall training.”
Maynard said he is excited to see some of the team veterans branch out into new events, which should help to strengthen both team’s run towards a WAC championship.
On the women’s side, junior Eleni Kafouru will compete this weekend in the 200m dash after primarily competing in the long and triple jumps during her collegiate career. Kafouru qualified for the NCAA national meet in both events last season.
“All of our people are opening up,” Maynard said. “We’ve had one of the best fall training periods, I’ve ever seen, this past semester. I’m excited for both our men and women.”
