BOISE, Idaho Boise State University Head Men’s Golf Coach Kevin Burton announced the signing of Blake Brown to National Letter of Intent for the 2008-09 season, Wednesday.

Brown, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz., recorded four tournament victories in 2007, earning his latest individual crown at the SWSPGA Phoenix Metro Junior City Championships, Feb. 23-24. The high school senior currently ranks 232 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard and boasts a scoring average of 70.6 this season.

“I feel very fortunate to get probably the top player out of Arizona,” said Burton. “Blake is a great kid and he had a lot of large schools looking at him, so we are very excited to have him join the Bronco family.”

On top of his invitational wins, including a victory at the Westfield PGA Junior Section Championship (Southwest), Brown has also finished runner-up in two others, while posting a third place finish at the Arizona Boys 5A High School State Championship.

In addition to his numerous tournament titles, Brown was named runner-up in both 2006 and 2007 for the Junior Golf Association Player of the Year, while being named the 2006 Southwest Section PGA Junior Player of the Year.

Playing at the Westfield PGA Junior Championship during the summer of 2007, Brown took 29th after posting a final four-round score of 293 (+9) for the tournament, just one shot shy of breaking into the top 25.
