BRONCOS PREPARE FOR WAC INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOISE, Idaho With the indoor track and field season nearing its end the Boise State men and women are setting their sights on the Western Athletic Conference Championship meet, which will be held Thursday-Saturday (Feb. 26-28) at the Jacksons Indoor Track in Nampa. The Bronco women are hoping to capture their first WAC title, while the men are looking for their sixth championship since joining the conference. The men have won the WAC indoor championship three times and the outdoor title twice.
The Meet
The WAC indoor championship meet will kick-off Thursday at 11 a.m. with four events of the men’s heptathlon and the entire women’s pentathlon. On Friday, events will start up again at 1:30 p.m. and will end with the final event at approximately 7:50 p.m. The meet will conclude on Saturday with events starting at 2:30 p.m. and finishing around 7:30 p.m.

Topping the WAC
The
The Bronco men finished the regular season with 17 top-three rankings in the conference standings. They also hold the No. 1 ranking in four events. Boise State currently has the second through fourth best times in the 60-meter dash, as well as the top-four marks in the long jump.
Broncos Ranked Nationally
The
Senior Ryan Grinnell leads the way with the most top-30 rankings on the team. He has two field event rankings in the top-10 and a third ranking in the top-30. He is currently ranked No. 10 in the high jump (7-1.75/2.18m) and triple jump (52-06.75/16.02m). Grinnell is also ranked No. 26 in the long jump (24-9.00/7.54m).
The Broncos also hold three other top-30 marks in jumps, between Zacharias Arnos and Eetu Viitala. Arnos and Viitala both long jumped 24-7.75 (7.51m) earlier this season, which ties them for 30th nationally.
