Broncos Close Regular Season at Bronco Invite

► What's Happening - Boise State will travel their men's and women's cross country teams to Santa Clara, Calif., to participate in the Santa Clara Bronco Invitational on Sat., Oct. 15. The meet will be the final regular season competition for the teams.  

►
Bronco Invite Meet Specifics - The meet will be held at the Baylands Regional Park in Sunnyvale, Calif., and consists of five races. The Broncos will participate in the women's 5-kilometer invitational race and the men's 8-kilometer invitational race, beginning at 10:45 a.m. (MT) and 11:30 a.m. (MT), respectively.

► Racing for the Broncos - Since the team is deep into the season, the rosters have not changed much since their last race. Racing for the women will be: Emma Bates, Hayley Gregoire, Shea Hanson, Erin McLaughlin, Tessa Murray, Taryn Treadway and Marisa VanderMalle. For the men, Andrew Booth, David Elliot, Vince Hamilton, Drew O'donoghue-McDonald, Dakota Parker, John Robinson and Allan Schroeder will be racing.

► Earning Honors - Freshman Vince Hamilton has been the only Bronco to garner an award thus far this season after being named Mountain West Athlete of the Week, Sept. 27.

A Look at the Rankings - Only the Bronco men have been ranked in the USTFCCCA West Region Rankings this season. They began the 2011 schedule with a No. 9 preseason ranking, followed by a No. 11 spot in week one. In week two they dropped to No. 15 in the region, but bounced back to No. 13 a week later. In week four they remained at No. 13. No rankings were released for week five.  

► Last Time Out - The Broncos fielded their second team on Friday evening (Oct. 7) to race in the College of Idaho Coyote Twilight. Freshman Aaron Back led the men with a sixth-place finish, while Sarah Bisterfeldt placed sixth in the women's race to lead her team. Overall the men's and women's teams each placed second, earning 40 and 42 points, respectively.  

► About the Broncos - The Broncos boast 13 men and 35 women on the 2011 roster, 11 freshmen are added to both the men's and women's rosters. A young team, the men have two sophomores and 11 freshmen on the roster, while the women have one senior, four juniors, 19 sophomores and 11 freshmen.
