Broncos Collect Runner-Up Titles at Charles Bowles Invitational

SALEM, Ore. - The Boise State men's and women's cross country teams each collected second-place finishes at the 38th Annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational hosted by Willamette University at Bush Park in Salem, Ore. The Broncos split squads this weekend, sending half their runners to Salem and the other half to race in St. Paul, Minn., at the Roy Griak Invitational.

At the Charles Bowles Invitational, Boise State's women scored 96-points en route to their second-place team finish while the men snagged their runner-up team title with 111-points.

Boise State's women were led by freshman Breanna Perrone, who placed fourth covering the 5-kilometer course in 18:18.85. Perrone was the top freshman in the field. Sophomore Hayley Gregoire collected a 12 th-place finish in 18:26.82, while junior Rici Morrill clocked 18:32.52 to place 16th. Sophomores Anna Preciado and Jenna Carlson placed 25th (18:53.94) and 46th (19:09.62), respectively, while freshman Samantha Gomez and sophomore Cara Strodel rounded out the team with 49th (19:11.98) and 50th-place (19:12.02) finishes.

The Bronco men were led by junior Zach Wiles who placed seventh on the 8-kilometer course in 25:10.09, while freshman Ryan Byrd placed 10 th in 25:21.79. Byrd was the top placing freshman in the field. Freshman Nick Lobb placed 16th (25:31.66) while sophomore John Robinson was just behind in 17th-place (25:38.29). Freshman Mike Claflin rounded out the team with a 63rd-place finish, clocking a time of 26:39.50.

Oregon State University won the women's title with 28-points, while Portland State's Amber Rozcicha won the individual title in 17:46.70.

The University of Portland won the men's title with 16-points, sweeping the top four spots. Led by Lars Erik Malde in 24:29.08.
