Travis Leads Broncos at MW Championships

TUCSON, Ariz. - Boise State junior men's golfer Ty Travis led the Broncos at the 2014 Mountain West Championships, finishing tied for 20th, Sunday.

Travis carded rounds of 71-73-75 at the par-71, 7,144-yard Catalina Course at the Omni Tucson National Resort, finishing with a three-round total of 219 (+6).

The finish was Travis's eighth inside the top 25 this season, and he concluded his debut season with the Broncos with a scoring average of 72.22 - the sixth-lowest in school history.

The Broncos improved on their second round by a stroke, shooting 305 (+21) in the final round, but dropped from a tie for ninth to 11th. Boise State concluded the conference championships with a 904 (293-306-305, +52).

Redshirt senior Jordan Skyles saved his best score for the final round of the conference championships, recording an even-par 71 in his last time out as a Bronco. Skyles concluded his Boise State career shooting 75-79-71 (225, +12).

After transferring to Boise State from Oregon prior to his redshirt sophomore season in 2011-12, Skyles went on to record a pair of top-10 finishes and eight top 25s.

Freshman David Elliott (73-79-77--229, +16), sophomore Logan France (74-75-82--231, +18) and freshman Mark Brassey (86-81-82--249, +36) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos.

New Mexico captured the team title with an 846 (-6), and the Lobos' Gavin Green earned medalist honors in a playoff after tying for the 54-hole lead at 4-under.
