BOISE, Idaho â€" Boise State safety Darian Thompson was named an All-America honorable mention by Sports Illustrated Thursday.

It is the second-straight season in which Thompson has earned All-America recognition. Last year he was named to CBSSports.com's All-America Second Team.

A redshirt senior, Thompson leads the Broncos with five interceptions in 2015, a figure that ranks tied for 17th in the FBS, four behind national leader Shawun Lurry of Northern Illinois. It is also tied for third in the Mountain West. On Oct. 31 at UNLV, Thompson picked off his fifth pass of the season and 19th of his career, passing Eric Weddle as the Mountain West's all-time leader.

Thompson's impact for the Bronco defense has not only been felt in the secondary but also up to the line of scrimmage. This year the Lancaster, Calif. native is second on the team with 63 tackles (team-high 35 solo) and tied for third with 7.5 tackles-for-loss.

Despite missing Boise State's final two games due to injury, Thompson was still named to the All-Mountain West First Team for a second-consecutive season.

Boise State returns to action Dec. 23 at the Poinsettia Bowl, where the Broncos (8-4) will face Northern Illinois (8-5) at 2:30 p.m. MT at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
