USAFA, Colo. â€" A pair of underclassmen led the Boise State men's golf team at the season-opening Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational, Sunday.

Sophomore Tristan Rohrbaugh was steady throughout the three-round tournament, carding rounds of 73-72-73 (218, +2) to finish tied for 22nd at the par-72, 7,401-yard Blue Course at the Eisenhower Golf Club. The effort was his best since finishing tied for 15th at the Thunderbird Invitational with a 1-under 143 (71-72), Feb. 9-10.

Freshman Alex Francois, making his collegiate debut, improved throughout the tournament, concluding the final round with a 2-under 70. The score propelled him up the leaderboard, from a tie for 62nd into a tie for 35th (77-74-70, +5).

Boise State finished 12th amongst the 16-team field, posting 301-288-296 (885, +21).

"We had a few bright spots and I'm excited about the potential going forward," head coach Dan Potter said. "Tristan was solid all three rounds and Alex was great in the final round. We weren't nearly good enough as a whole this week, but it's going to get better."

Senior Logan France (75-77-74-226, +10), junior Kyle Mitsunaga (77-70-79-226, +10) and sophomore Jacob Byers (76-72-80-228, +12) rounded out the scoring for the Broncos at the tournament.

The Broncos will continue the fall portion of their season at the Husky Invitational, hosted at the Tumble Creek Country Club in Cle Elum, Wash., Sept. 21-22.
