VALENTINE, Neb. -
In a field of elite competition, the Boise State men's golf team battled to a tied for fourth place finish at The Jackrabbit, Tuesday.

Six teams in the field were receiving votes in the latest GCAA Coaches' Poll (Sept. 29) - led by No. 18 Missouri - but all five Broncos finished the tournament under-par to tie with South Carolina (RV,17). Boise State shot a combined 841 (278-277-286, -23).

"We came out of the gates looking great today," head coach Dan Potter said. "Unfortunately, we just didn't quite sprint across the finish line. We'll learn a lot from this week. For starters, we learned that we are good enough to compete anywhere we'll go this year. Second, we learned that we need to maintain our poise all the way to the finish line when we have opportunities l6ike today.

"This was a great event for our team, and we'll get better from it."

For the second-straight tournament, the Broncos were led by Donny Hopoi - who finished tied for 11th. Hopoi shot 7-under for the week (70-69-70, 209), and finished tied for eight in par-4 scoring (3.90).

The senior has yet to shoot a round over-par this season.

Sophomore Brian Humphreys finished a stroke behind Hopoi, shooting 210 (71-67-72, -6). Humphreys finished in a tie for 17th and made his moves on the par-5s of the course, averaging 4.42 strokes to rank tied for sixth in the field.

Jun Ho Won shot the lowest round of the tournament with a 4-under 68 on Sunday. Won held steady over the final two days to finish 5-under on the week (68-71-72 - 211). The freshman also secured his first career top 25 finish after finish tied for 20th.

Skyler Eubank (71-70-72 - 213, -3) and Jacob Byers (69-71-75 - 215, -1) rounded out the scoring for Boise State.
