BANDON, Ore. - Boise State men's golf stands tied for 10th after Sunday's opening round of the Bandon Dunes Championship after shooting a combined 3-over (291), but is just five strokes out of fifth place and eight out of second.

The Broncos, tied with Fresno State in 10th, were led on the day by junior Donny Hopoi, who fired a 1-under 71 on the Old MacDonald Course at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort. Hopoi is tied for 18th on the individual leaderboard, six strokes off the pace set by Texas Tech's Hannes Ronneblad. On the team leaderboard, Oregon leads the way at 13-under, with Colorado State Texas Tech tied for second at 5-under.

"The conditions were mild today so the scoreboard is pretty bunched up. We're sitting just fine; we didn't do anything special, but didn't hurt ourselves, either," said Boise State head coach Dan Potter. "Donny played solid. Brian and Connor both game a couple shots back at the end but chances are we'll get some good wind going forward. There's plenty of golf left to play."

Freshmen Brian Humphreys and Connor Johnstone finished the round with matching scores of 73 (+1), while junior Tristan Rohrbaugh carded a 74 (+2). Freshman Mason Schulze rounded out the group with an 8-over 80.

Action continues Monday morning with second-round play, while the tournament will conclude with Tuesday's final round.
