PROVO, Utah - Freshman Mason Schulze (-3) and senior Kyle Mitsunaga (-1) sit in the top 20 on the individual leaderboard through Monday's action at the PING Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah. Schulze sits tied for 10th, just three strokes off the pace, while Mitsunaga is tied for 19th.

As a team, Schulze and Mitsunaga, along with junior Donny Hopoi (+5), and freshmen Brian Humphreys (+8) and Connor Johnstone (+8), sit ninth in the team standings at 7-over (583).

Host BYU leads the field at 11-under, while Utah's Jordan Costello and LMU's Riley Elmes are tied atop the individual field at 6-under (138).

Senior David Elliott, competing as an individual entry, finished the day at 15-over (77-82).

Mitsunaga and Schulze each got off to a fast start in the first round on the par-72, 7,142-yard course at Riverside Country Club, sitting at 4-under and 3-under, respectively, through the front nine. Mitsunaga, competing in his first tournament since the PRO Compression Invitational (Feb. 13-14), carded four-straight birdies on holes 3-6 before shooting even par over the back nine to finish the round with a 68. Schulze carded six birdies against five bogeys to finish the round at 1-under before carding matching 35s over the front and back nines in the second round to get to 3-under for the day.

"It was an awesome first round for Kyle. He and Mason kept us in the game that round," said Boise State head coach Dan Potter. "Mason was solid all day and two rounds under par. It was great to see Kyle come out, be aggressive and making birdies. He looked like he hadn't missed a beat."

Hopoi and Johnstone were even after the front nine of the second round before shooting 37 and 38, respectively, over the back nine to close the day.

The Broncos compete in the tournament's final round Tuesday morning.
