RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. -
With back-to-back rounds of 73 to end the 2018 Mountain West Women's Golf Championship, Boise State women's golfer Alejandra Lobelo notched the highest finish by a Bronco at a conference championship in two seasons, Wednesday at Dinah Shores Championship Course at Mission Hills Country Club.

Lobelo birdied twice on the day to end at 1-over 73, giving her a three-round score of 222 (76-73-73, +6). The freshman finished in a tie for 13th, the highest finish since Samantha Martin finished tied for 10th in 2016. It's also the highest finish by a Boise State freshman since Martin and McKenzie Ford finished tied for ninth and 11th, respectively, in 2013.

Finishing at 6-over is also the lowest individual score by a Boise State women's golfer since the Broncos joined the Mountain West in 2012.

Boise State entered the week with only one member of their lineup having any experience at a conference championship. The Broncos finished ninth with a combined score of 930 (303-311-316, +66).

"I'm really proud of how Ale played at her first championship," Boise State head coach Nicole Bird said. "She hit some great shots and gave herself some good opportunities to score. As for the team . . . this was definitely not how we wanted to end the season. The bounces didn't go our way and the putts didn't drop. We got on the bogey train for most of the back 9 and couldn't get off.

"We have some work to do over the summer, but the good news is that we return everyone and we get another opportunity to get better."

Fellow freshmen Lexi Perry (76-79-81 - 236, +20) and Nicole Suppelsa (82-81-80 - 243, +27) finished in a tie for 35th and a tie for 42nd, respectively.

Valentine Lacaze shot 238 (75-81-82, +22), while Kinsley Bonfilio rounded out the Bronco lineup with a 241 (80-81-80, +25).

The conference championship ends the Broncos season, as they now await bids to the NCAA Regional events to be announced.
