Broncos Go Cold in Tulsa

12/11/2019 8:04:00 PM | Men's Basketball

TULSA, Okla. - The recently-hot-shooting Boise State men's basketball team cooled off Wednesday in a 69-56 loss at Tulsa. The Broncos (5-4) shot 6-for-29 from three-point range (20.7 percent).

Boise State had made 40 three-pointers in its previous four games, shooting at a 39.6 percent clip from beyond the arc.

RJ Williams led the Broncos Wednesday, with 19 points and 10 rebounds. It is the third double-double of the year for Williams, who has scored in double figures six times.

The Broncos were held to two field goals in the first 12 minutes while Tulsa (8-2) built a 12-point lead. The home team stretched its advantage to 21 by halftime and Boise State did not get back within single digits.

In the second half, Boise State used an 11-2 run to trim the deficit to 12. The Golden Hurricane went more than four minutes without scoring during the run, but the Broncos could not find the timely shot it needed to take full advantage.

Boise State returns home Saturday, against Alabama State. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. at ExtraMile Arena. Tickets are available at BroncoSports.com/tickets. Saturday is also Toys For Tots, fans who bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate will receive a discounted ticket for $7.
