BOISE, Idaho - After trailing for the first 30 minutes of game action, Boise State shifted into a different gear and ran away from Fresno State for a 73-51 win Wednesday, at ExtraMile Arena. The Broncos closed the game on a 30-5 run to collect their school-record sixth 20-point win in conference play.
Derrick Alston, Jr. scored 21 points, including the much-awaited go-ahead basket with 9:38 left in the game. Alston made three three-pointers to lift Boise State on an otherwise cold-shooting night.
The Broncos (13-1, 9-0 MW) shot 25.7 percent in the first half and made one of their first 16 three-point attempts. They closed the game making 12-of-15 shots, 4-of-5 from beyond the arc in that span.
Abu Kigab's triple with 10:24 remaining tied the game and sparked the clinching run. Kigab did the majority of his work in the paint, recording his third double-double in the last seven games with 15 points and 11 rebounds to go with three assists.
Marcus Shaver, Jr. scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half, while notching six rebounds, three steals and two assists.
The Broncos and Bulldogs (5-6, 3-6 MW) meet again Friday, at 7 p.m. MT, on CBS Sports Network.
