Khalil Shakir Named to Maxwell Award Watch List

PHILADELPHIA – Boise State senior wide receiver Khalil Shakir has been named to the Watch List for the 2021 Maxwell Award powered by Mammoth Tech.
The Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year since 1937. It is named in honor of Robert "Tiny" Maxwell who was a former standout at the Swarthmore College and a renowned sports writer and football official.
Shakir continues to add preseason accolades to his resume. He was named Third Team All-American by Pro Football Focus, First Team All-Mountain West by PFF, Athlon Preseason All-MW First Team and Phil Steele Preseason All-MW First Team.
Shakir recorded 52 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns in 2020. He added 148 rushing yards and was one of only two players nationally with 700 yards receiving and 100 yards rushing. The receiver led the Mountain West (10th nationally) with 7.43 receptions per game. He was also a Pro Football Focus Honorable Mention All-American and All-Mountain First Team Honoree.
