Townsend Takes Silver in Long Jump

TOKYO – Former Boise State track and field student-athlete Roderick Townsend concluded his 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games with a silver medal in the men's long jump – T47 final, Monday.

Cuba's Yankiel Robiel Sol Cervantes led the event after five rounds with a mark of 7.46-meters. Sitting comfortably in second place, Townsend set a personal-best jump of 7.43m in his sixth and final attempt, securing his second medal of the 2020 Paralympic Games.

The Stockton Calif., native returns from Tokyo with a gold medal in the men's high jump – T47 and a silver medal in the long jump – T47. He also competed in the 100m, earning a sixth-place finish in his heat.
