BOISE, Idaho – In November 1977, Cedric Minter rushed for 210 yards against Cal Poly to set a then-single game record for Boise State.

It was the first of several standards set by the Borah High School product, some of which still stand today. What makes the performance during the final home contest of that fall in Boise more impressive is Minter was just a freshman.

It was the first of four-career 200-yard games for the 170-pound running back and one of 20 outings with at least 100 yards, both Boise State records.

The following September, Minter rushed for 261 yards against Northern Michigan and that number has yet to be eclipsed by a Bronco.

He finished his career with 4,475 yards on the ground, another school record. His 37-career touchdowns rushing and 1,526 yards rushing in 1978 set marks that have since been broken, but remain in Boise State's all-time top 10.

As a senior in 1980, Minter was part of the Broncos' 1-AA national championship squad. In a semifinal against Grambling State, he caught a 31-yard touchdown pass in a 14-9 win. He also scored on a 1-yard run in a 31-29 victory over Eastern Kentucky in the championship game.

A three-time All-American, Minter was selected in the first round of the 1981 Canadian Football League Draft by the Toronto Argonauts and played north of the border from 1981-83. He earned the 1981 Frank M. Gibson Trophy as best rookie in the East, was an all-star in 1981 and 1982, and scored the game-winning touchdown in the 1983 Grey Cup.

He went on to play two seasons (1984-85) for the New York Jets in the NFL before returning to Argonauts in 1986 and closing his career with the CFL's Ottawa Rough Riders in 1987.

Minter was inducted to the Boise State Hall of Fame in 1987.
