CLEVELAND – A quartet of Boise State football student-athletes were named to the Phil Steele All-Mountain West First Team, highlighting the Broncos' 12 selections, the magazine announced Thursday.

Fifth-year senior cornerback Caleb Biggers, redshirt senior defensive lineman Scott Matlock, redshirt senior offensive lineman John Ojukwu and senior safety JL Skinner received first-team honors.

Biggers started each of Boise State's 13 games at cornerback this season. He has registered 36 tackles, including five for-loss, four pass breakups, one sack, one interception and a fumble recovery.

Matlock has started all 12 games in which he has appeared during the 2022 season. He has tallied 46 tackles, including six for-loss, six quarterback hurries and 2.5 sacks.

The Homedale, Idaho native also hauled in his second-career touchdown, catching a 1-yard pass in the third quarter against Utah State (Nov. 25).

Ojukwu was selected to the All-MW First Team for a second-straight season in 2022. He has made 42-consecutive starts on the offensive line, including starting all 13 games at left tackle this season.

A 2021 and 2022 All-MW First-Team honoree, Skinner leads Boise State with four interceptions and his 65 tackles, including 36 solo, are second among Bronco defenders.

Skinner's interceptions this season are tied for the third-most in the MW, and he is just one of eight student-athletes nationally to record at least 65 tackles and four interceptions in 2022.

Boise State had a pair of Phil Steele second-team all-conference honorees at linebacker in sixth-year senior Ezekiel Noa and redshirt senior DJ Schramm. Junior running back George Holani also collected a second-team nod.

Three Broncos earned third-team recognition, including redshirt freshman quarterback Taylen Green and redshirt senior offensive lineman Cade Beresford on the offensive side of the ball. Junior placekicker Jonah Dalmas was also awarded third-team status, marking Boise State's only special teams honoree.

Two offensive weapons in redshirt sophomore wide receiver Latrell Caples and redshirt senior tight end Riley Smith garnered fourth-team accolades.

Next, Boise State will square off against North Texas in the fifth edition of the Frisco Bowl, which is slated for Saturday, Dec. 17 at Toyota Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. MT, and the game will be nationally televised on ESPN.
