BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Head Volleyball Coach Shawn Garus announced today the addition of Bella McGirr for the 2022 campaign. McGirr is from Novato, Calif., where she played libero for Marin Catholic High School. McGirr's addition increases next year's freshman class to three, joining Elle Cotton and Kiersten Van Kirk who signed in November.

McGirr was a four-year starter for the MCHS Wildcats' varsity team coached by Jake Spain. She helped her team to a three-year combined record (minus the COVID season of 2020) 100-11 and three undefeated seasons in conference play going 32-0. Her MCHS team won three-consecutive league championships and advanced to the Northern California Championship Tournament all three years, winning it her sophomore year, while placing second as a freshman and third this past fall as a senior.

The 5-foot-5 libero is a two-time all-conference honoree, a 2021 MaxPreps second-team All-American at libero, was named MCAL Player of the Week on several occasions and is an academic standout with a 4.2 GPA.

McGirr played her club ball for the Absolute Volleyball Club of San Rafael, Calif., under coach Konrad Ott. Her team placed third at the U13 national tournament and qualified for the Junior Nationals Open Division every season since her U13 campaign.
