FRESNO, Calif. - Fifth-year senior Lexi Perry and senior Elena Castanon registered top-20 finishes as the Boise State women's golf team placed 12th (305-303-296, +40) at the Fresno State Classic, Tuesday.
"It's nice to finish this tournament on a high note," said head coach Kailin Downs. "Today's performances showcased what this team is capable of. We had two individuals in Lexi [Perry] and Elena [Castanon] step up this week, and we need more of that. Throughout the season, we've had different individuals step up during different tournaments, so I know this team is capable of multiple outstanding performances at the same time."
Perry was the Broncos' top finisher, tying for 14th and carding rounds of 73-73-75 (+5). This was the third time this season Perry has been inside the top 25, and the 19th time in her career, which ranks sixth in program history.
Castanon also recorded her third top-25 finish of the season, tying for 18th and shooting 6-over par (77-73-72—222). This marked the second-highest finish of her Bronco career.
Rounding out the Blue and Orange's scoring five were sophomores Elli Gordon (77-76-77, +14) and Hyeji (Emma) Yang (78-81-73, +16) and freshman Hannah Lim (80-82-76, +22).
Following a week off, Boise State travels to Maricopa, Ariz., for the Cowgirl Classic at the Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Course, April 4-5.
