Men’s Basketball Adds Sylla

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State head men's basketball coach Leon Rice announced the addition of Mohamed Sylla – a transfer from Detroit Mercy – to the 2022-23 roster, Monday afternoon.
 
Sylla boasts a 6-foot-11 frame that adds size and length to the Broncos' frontcourt. A native of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, Sylla appeared in 10 games during his junior season with the Titans, averaging 1.5 points and 0.7 rebounds.

DETROIT MERCY CAREER
JUNIOR (2021-22): Played in 10 games on the year…averaged 1.5 points and 0.7 rebounds hitting six of his seven field goals on the season…made his Titan debut at Kent State…tallied a season-high four points and four rebounds against NKU…scored and had a rebound at Youngstown State…had his first collegiate basket and finished with three points and two rebounds at Robert Morris.

FLORIDA SOUTHWESTERN CAREER
Played in 36 games with 16 starts the last two seasons at Florida Southwestern and averaged 3.8 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 63.0 percent from the field…in 2020-21 he tallied 3.4 points and 4.5 rebounds, connecting 15-of-25 (60%) shots…grabbed five or more rebounds in five of the 10 games he saw action in, posting 10 points and nine rebounds against Hillsborough Community College and nine more boards at Polk State College…in 2019-20, he posted 3.9 points and 3.8 rebounds and recorded a double-double with a career-high 12 points and 11 rebounds against Combine Academy.

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
Played one year for Putnam Science Academy, one of the top prep schools in the East region…his school featured nine players with Division I offers and went 38-2 when he was a senior…averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in his only season.
