BOISE, Idaho – Boise State placekicker Jonah Dalmas was named to the Athlon Sports Preseason All-America Third Team, the publication announced earlier this week.
Dalmas was just one of two student-athletes from the Mountain West to earn a spot on a preseason team.
All-America team selections are based on how players will perform in 2022. While career statistics and previous awards are considered in player evaluations, choosing the All-America team is largely based on predicting and projecting the upcoming year.
A 2021 Lou Groza Award Semifinalist, Dalmas made a school-record 26 field goals last season, the second-most in MW history, and he was the first Bronco placekicker to be named to the All-MW First Team since 2015.
Dalmas went 4-for-4 on field goal attempts in each of the Broncos' two victories on the road over ranked opponents in 2021 (BYU, Oct. 9; Fresno State, Nov. 6).
The Meridian, Idaho native, led the country in field goals per game (2.17) and finished eighth nationally in scoring (9.7 points per game) during 2021. Additionally, his field goal percentage of .929 (26-for-28) ranked seventh nationally, and his career field goal percentage of .917 (33-of-36) is the highest amongst active kickers.
