BOISE, Idaho – Boise State offensive lineman John Ojukwu was tabbed to the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA) announced Thursday.

The Wuerffel Trophy Watch List is Ojukwu's second preseason watch list nod this season. He was named to the Outland Trophy Watch List, Tuesday.

Established in 2005, the award honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their impact and inspire greater service in the world. It was the first major award honoring the character of service to others.

The award is named after Heisman Trophy winner, College Football Hall of Famer, former NFL quarterback and renowned humanitarian Danny Wuerffel, whose life mission is to inspire greater service in the world.

Ojukwu has been extremely active in the Boise State community outside of football. During his collegiate career, he visited local elementary schools and was a great role model to younger students. Ojukwu also participated in the football program's "Bronco vs. Bullying" anti-bullying campaign.

A Boise native, Ojukwu was selected to the 2022 Preseason All-Mountain West Team. He earned first-team all-conference accolades in 2021, starting all 12 games at left tackle for the Broncos last season, extending his streak to 29-consecutive starts.

Semifinalists for the award will be released Nov. 1., and finalists will be announced Nov. 22.
