
Joana Baptista Named Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week

BOISE, Idaho – Joana Baptista, a fifth-year senior, has been named the Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 3-9.
A member of the Bronco women's tennis team, Baptista won the Black Draw, the top singles flight, at the Beach Tennis Fall Tournament in Long Beach, Calif. She also paired with Ana Conde Vendrell in doubles to go 2-1 in the Black Draw.
In singles, Baptista rallied from a set down in her quarterfinal match against Paulina Franco-Martinessi of Long Beach State and duplicated the feat against Kayla Meraz of UC Irvine in her semifinal contest.
In the final, the Porto, Portugal native disposed of Long Beach State's Rhona Cook, 6-1, 6-1 to improve to 8-2 this fall.
