McAlister and Madsen Earn MW Weekly Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Two Boise State players garnered Mountain West recognition for their performances against Wyoming. Wide receiver Eric McAlister was named the MW Offensive Player of the Week and quarterback Maddux Madsen was selected the MW Freshman of the Week, the conference announced.
McAlister matched his career-high with seven receptions, totaling 160 yards and one touchdown. His touchdown came on a 49-yard reception during Boise State's opening drive. He also had a 36-yard catch to set up a Bronco touchdown on the opening drive of the second half. Six of his seven catches gained a first down or scored a touchdown and all seven receptions were for 12 yards or longer.
McAlister is tied for first in the FBS with 11 contested catches and ranks 10th in receiving yards per game (98.5). He is second in the MW in receiving yards (788) and yards per reception (20.2). This is the first time he has been selected for a MW weekly award.
Madsen completed a career-high 12 passes on 15 attempts, totaling 147 yards and one touchdown. He finished the game 10-for-10, throwing for 124 yards during that span. His touchdown pass was a 6-yard strike to Prince Strachan on third down. Madsen was 4-for-6 on third downs, passing for 51 yards. His longest completion was the 36-yard pass to McAlister, setting up Boise State's third touchdown of the game. He also carried the ball five times for 24 yards. This is his second-career MW weekly award.
Today marks the second time this season the Broncos have had multiple players honored in the same week. On Oct. 9, Madsen (Freshman) and James Ferguson-Reynolds (Special Teams) were selected. Boise State returns to action this weekend with an 8 p.m. kickoff at Fresno State that will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network.
