BOISE, Idaho – Eric McAlister, a redshirt sophomore on the Boise State football team, has been named the Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week for Oct. 25-31.
McAlister caught seven passes for 160 yards and one touchdown in Saturday's 32-7 win over Wyoming. His touchdown, a 49-yard reception, came on the Broncos' opening drive. He also had a 36-yard catch on Boise State's first possession of the third quarter, setting up another Bronco touchdown. Six of his seven receptions gained a first down or scored a touchdown. All seven were for 12 yards or longer.
This is the third award McAlister has earned based on his performance last weekend. On Monday, he was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Yesterday, he was selected for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Honorable Mention list for the third time this year.
A native of Azle, Texas, McAlister leads the FBS in contested catches (11) while ranking 10th in receiving yards per game (98.5) and yards per reception (20.2). He has 788 receiving yards, putting him 11th in the nation and second in the MW. This morning, he was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list, a national award that is given to the top receiver in the FBS.
