BOISE, Idaho – George Holani, a redshirt senior on the Boise State football team, has been named the Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week for Nov. 15-21.
Â
Holani matched his career-high with 178 rushing yards on Saturday, leading the Broncos to a 45-10 win over Utah State. He ran for two touchdowns, including a career-long 75-yard score that sparked a 31-point second quarter for Boise State. His second touchdown, a 33-yard scamper, also came in the second quarter, giving him 142 yards in that frame.
Â
A native of Bellflower, Calif., Holani averaged 11.9 yards per carry, the sixth-best single-game total in Boise State history. He added nine receiving yards and eight punt return yards to total a season-high 195 all-purpose yards. He now ranks seventh in program history in rushing yards (3,326), rushing attempts (631), and career 100-yard rushing games (14).
Â
The Broncos finished the game with 352 rushing yards, the most since a 400-yard performance against UConn in 2018. Boise State's second quarter total of 207 rushing yards is the most since 2004, when it had 244 in the third quarter against Hawai'i.
Â
Holani and the Broncos close the regular season on The Blue, hosting Air Force at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24. The game has postseason implications for both teams, as the winner will stay in the hunt for a berth in the MW Championship.
