BOISE, Idaho – For the first time, Boise State has named two Ford Student-Athletes of the Week. Following their impressive performances during the week of Sept. 20-26, Paige Bartsch (volleyball) and Ashton Jeanty (football) earned their honors.
This is Bartsch's second Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week honor, while this is Jeanty's first.
Paige Bartsch | Volleyball
Bartsch had a record-breaking week for the Broncos (6-6, 2-0 MW) last week, which earned her Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week honors as well. She recorded seven aces against Colorado State on Thursday, breaking a program-record for most aces in the rally scoring era. She also netted 24 kills against the Rams, totaling 33 points in the match.
The Helena, Mont., native followed up with a career-high 30 kills against Wyoming on Saturday. Bartsch also put up a solid defensive showing against the Cowgirls, piling up 10 digs in a dominant 3-1 victory.
Bartsch tallied 6.0 kills per set on a .239 hitting percentage over the two matches. She also racked up 18 digs (2.00 per set) and 10 service aces (1.11 per set). The junior currently leads the nation in aces per set (0.76), is second nationally in points per set (6.14) and ranks third in kills per set (5.16).
The Broncos will hit the road as they look to remain undefeated in conference play, taking on Air Force, Thursday at 6 p.m. MT, before facing New Mexico on Saturday at 1 p.m. MT. Both matches will be streamed on the Mountain West Network.
Ashton Jeanty | Football
Jeanty earned a pair of honors earlier this week to go along with his weekly Boise State honor. The sophomore running back was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, Monday, and Tuesday was named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Honorable Mention list.
He had a historic night in Boise State's 34-31 win at San Diego State, rushing for a career-high 205 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries. He became the first Bronco to eclipse 200 rushing yards since 2018 and his total of 254 all-purpose yards is the highest single-game total by a MW player this season.
Jeanty accounted for 12 of the team's 19 first downs and caught four passes for 49 yards, gaining 59 yards after catch. He accumulated 168 of his all-purpose yards in the second quarter. The sophomore leads the nation in all-purpose yards per game, averaging 173.0.
Boise State football heads on the road to Memphis, Saturday, with kickoff at 2 p.m. MT on ESPN2.
