Emily Lopez Adds Ford Boise State Honor to Weekly Awards Haul

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State gymnastics senior Emily Lopez was named the Ford Student-Athlete of the Week following her performances against Mountain West rivals Air Force and San Jose State and nonconference opponent West Chester on Jan. 19.
Lopez is the second gymnast to be named Ford Student-Athlete of the Week – Emma Loyim earned the honor last week.
Lopez was the bars and co-beam champion at the Broncos' home opener, tallying season-bests on bars (9.950), beam (9.925) and vault (9.800). Her bars score matches Boise State's best individual event score of the 2024 campaign and her beam score ties her career-high and the Broncos' best beam score of the year.
Her efforts helped the Blue and Orange sweep Air Force, San Jose State and West Chester, and gave head coach Tina Bird 250 career victories.
The Mission Viejo, Calif., native was named MW Bars and Co-Beam Specialist of the Week. These are her team-best 18th and 19th career weekly conference honors.
Boise State will be back in action at ExtraMile Arena as they welcome Iowa State for a dual on Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.
