Gift advances momentum around North End Zone Project and Bronco Athletics
BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Athletics received a $1 million pledge from Dennis M. and Matthew J. Baker owners of DMB Companies Inc., a locally based real estate development company. The commitment will be designated for the North End Zone Project, Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey announced Monday.Â
"We are grateful for Dennis, Jean and Matt for their belief in our vision, the investment in the North End Zone Project, and their long-term commitment to Boise State," said Dickey. "It takes people like the Baker family who not only believe in Boise State but also make the Treasure Valley a great place to live. Appreciate their support as we all continue to build epic."
"For the last 50 years, DMB Companies Inc. has been honored to play a role in helping to shape the communities within the Treasure Valley aided by the exposure provided by the success of Bronco Athletics," said Dennis M. Baker. "This is an opportunity for us to support an important infrastructure project that will position Boise State Athletics for even more success."
The new North End Zone Project would include additional restrooms, an open-air sports bar, a club and terrace space that can be used on non-game days, and a nutrition center for all Boise State student-athletes.Â
"We have been committed to building homes, neighborhoods and gathering places for residents of the Treasure Valley to live, work and play," said Matthew J. Baker. "The North End Zone Project will enhance the game day experience at Albertsons Stadium, provide a year-round place for all student-athletes to come together to fuel-up and further strengthen Bronco football for years to come. We are really excited to see the project come to life."
Pending approval by the Idaho State Board of Education, the department plans to begin construction on the North End Zone Project in early 2025, with a targeted completion date before the 2026 football season.
In Oct. 2023, the university announced a $150 million fundraising goal for the Athletics pillar of Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University. The Unbridled campaign, which aims to raise $500 million and runs through 2028, is the most ambitious philanthropic and alumni engagement campaign in the university's history. The Athletics pillar positions Athletics for what's next through enhanced scholarships and academic support, facilities and fan experiences.
This is the fifth $1 million gift Bronco Athletics has received since the public launch of Unbridled: The Campaign for Boise State University. Since the launch of the Lyle Smith Society (LSS) in 2020, the department has received 15 gifts of $1 million or more from a total of 10 different individuals or families. To date, the LSS has raised more than $30 million for Boise State Athletics.
