Broncos rise in AP poll comes after win at UNLV
BOISE, Idaho – Following Boise State's thrilling 29-24 win at UNLV last Friday, the Associated Press ranked the Broncos at No. 15 this week while the US LBM Coaches Poll kept Boise State at No. 19.
Â
Boise State has the nation's third-best scoring offense (44.3 ppg) and fourth-best total offense (504.6 ypg) to compile a 6-1 (3-0 MW) record this season. The only demerit on the slate so far was a 37-34 decision at then-No. 7/6 and now No. 1/1 Oregon as the Ducks hit a field goal as time expired to escape the Bronco threat.
Â
The Broncos lead the nation in sacks (5.00 spg). The Broncos have two games with eight sacks and registered six sacks at UNLV.
Â
Boise State already holds the distinction of the nation's best record while ranked in the AP Top 25 poll. Following last week's win, the Blue and Orange are now 117-21 (.848) while ranked by the AP, the best record of any team over the past 40 years.
Â
The Broncos added 46 points in the AP poll this week to total 619 points, while receiving 459 points in the Coaches Poll, up 100 from last week.Â
Â
Boise State returns home on Friday evening to host San Diego State (3-4, 2-0 MW) in a sold out contest as two of the Mountain West's three remaining undefeated programs in league play square off. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. MT with the game televised on FS1.

Led by Spencer Danielson in his first full season, Boise State looks to become the first Mountain West program to win back-to-back championships since San Diego State did so in 2015-16. Achieving such a feat will put Boise State in the discussion for the new, expanded, 12-team College Football Playoff format beginning this fall. Last year, Danielson became the first coach in college football history to win a conference championship with an interim title.
